FAFSWAG FUNDRAISER
FAFSWAG x MANCHESTER
Warm Pacific greetings to you all.
As many of you may already know, FAFSWAG have been on an incredible development journey with Manchester International Arts Festival for a new work entitled Fale Sā / Sacred House – A live venue takeover at HOME as part of MIF2025. This project is led by Apulu Pati Tyrell and produced with support from FAFSWAG and MIF25.
We’re excited to be opening this project on the 4th of July and have 8 artists traveling from NZ and Australia to attend the delivery of our exhibition, cultural ceremony and public programme. While all the main project costs are covered, we’ve identified some local travel costs that the team needs support with. We have set a target of $14,000 NZD over three weeks. All donations will go towards supporting the following costs.
$7,000 – 6 x Artists & 2 Cast Members - local travel costs
$2,500 – Travel insurance for 8 traveling artists
$3,000 – Studio costs
$1,500 – Contingency
Total – $14,000 NZD
FAFSWAG are reaching out to our nearest and dearest for support for some of these costs, which are spread across 8 artists. This fundraiser will go towards some studio and travel insurance costs, and help us account for the impact of inflation and the struggling NZD in the UK. The current exchange rate means our dollar doesn’t go very far.
The team has worked hard over the past two years to get this work ready for its world premier in the UK. We just need some help with this last step. Your contribution will make a world of difference to artists sharing our stories on the international stage.
There is no amount too small, every cent helps our campaign. There are also other ways you can show your support by sharing our campaign with your networks and with folks who may want to support our artists.
Thank you for making it this far to our donation portal. We are so grateful for your love and support. THANK YOU!!!
FALE SĀ / SACRED HOUSE is a ceremonial house inhabited by ancestral stories from the Pacific Diaspora of Aotearoa and the wider Moana. Activated through embodied ritual practice and adorned in digital Fāgogo (fables), this venue takeover presents a collective harvest of Indigenous knowledge systems.
